2021, The Year Of Beautification
I don't know about you but I've questioned the year 2020 on several occasions, stopping short of canceling the year altogether, for obvious reasons. I think even those who lived under the rock heard the news about this unforgettable year.
It's interesting how just a few years ago, I had so much anticipation for the year 2020 especially as a Public Health Major, Healthy People 2020 was such a vision to be reckoned with. In December of 2010, the Department of Health and Human Services launched the Initiative with four overarching goals:
- Attain high-quality, longer lives free of preventable disease, disability, injury, and premature death;
- Achieve health equity, eliminate disparities, and improve the health of all groups;
- Create social and physical environments that promote good health for all;
- And promote quality of life, healthy development, and healthy behaviors across all life stages.
Not to minimize the efforts of the CDC and everyone involved in ensuring the success of Healthy People 2020. However, when the aforementioned year arrived, heads scratched, mouths gaped in wonder and confusion, and sadly, lives were lost. Not that these Goals weren't achieved--to some extent, they were but then the global pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus has been ravaging lives, minds and properties all year long and even as of December 2020.
There's no point beating a dead horse.
As the year comes to a close, I've wondered what to expect of 2021.
- Would we continue this social distancing, mask-wearing and limiting our human interactions? Absolutely!
- Would there be another mandatory shutdown all around the world? At this rate, I'm guessing the answer is yes!
- Would we, sadly, lose lives to this horrible pandemic? Unfortunately!
Despite these ugly circumstances we're likely going to face, my prayer and heart's desire is for everyone to keep safe.
On the other hand, I was comforted by God's promise during my quiet, prayer time for 2021. I heard clearly, "2021, THE YEAR OF BEAUTIFICATION." Considering how bleak the future looks, I had to check the definition of this word to ensure I heard right. It means, "the process of making visual improvements to something so it is more appealing to the eyes." At first, I thought the word applied to one's physical beauty but as I delved deeper into God's word, I realized it was more than physical beauty. Interestingly, the Catholic Church applies Beautification in a different definition.
What I learned through the Bible is that God's process of beautification is not only for outward visual improvements. In fact, because God is the embodiment of beauty, He is spotless, pure and perfect. He brightens what He beautifies with His indescribable abilities to the point that human words can't accurately describe the after results of such beautification.
So, when the Holy Spirit tells me 2021 is the year of Beautification, He's really telling me its the year of inward RENEWAL (2. Corinthians 4:16) to the point of outward TRANSFORMATION ( Colossians 3:10) found only in God, Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit. A TRANSFORMATION so complete it births WHOLESOMENESS, PEACE, LOVE, JOY, PATIENCE, INCREASE, SUCCESS, and NEW INSIGHTS!
What I'm learning is that Beautification in 2021 means:
- Trusting God, becoming one in my heart with Him.
- Making Him the center of my universe.
- Accepting that He is the driver of my life.
- Relying on the direction He's taking me.
When I give Him total control, I am certain that His indescribable Beauty will not only radiate over my entire being, it will make 2021 a truly Beautified year. With all my heart, I want to wish you A Happy New Year of Inward Beautification!
Shalom
